Poetry in the West Wing, April 12, 2011

April is Poetry Month!  Join us in the West Wing of the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Tuesday, April 12, as Charles H. Johnson, a Geraldine Dodge Foundation Poet, will read selections of his poetry in the West Wing. He has recently published his third poetry collection, 'Smoke Signals' and won a 2007 Paterson Poetry Prize Award for Literary Excellence for his collection 'Sam's Place' and was a 2004 Paterson Poetry finalist for his book 'Tunnel Vision'. He has also had his poetry published in a variety of literary journals and newspapers. Charles, a resident of Hillsborough, will answer your questions after his presentation.

Refreshments will be served.

Yoga, April 11, 2011

Join us at the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Monday, April 11, for yoga for gentle cleansing and detoxification. This gentle workshop is cleansing and energizing to the body/mind and works on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual. We will work together to detoxify all of the major internal organs, flush out toxins, rejuvenate and energize the body– in a very gentle and mindful way.

Iconography, April 7, 2011

Join us at the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Thursday, April 7, for Iconography, presented by Regina Hoag. In her one hour presentation Regina will talk about the process of writing an icon, will show examples of her work and some of the materials used in icon writing and will answer questions. To date, Regina has completed 11 icons, 9 of which were in Prosopon School Workshops.

The Edna Project, April 2, 2011

Join us in the West Wing of the Hillsborough Public Library at 2pm on Saturday, April 2, for a lyrical rendition of the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay set to music by Liz Quler and Seth Farber. You will be delighted by their creative and enlightening performance.

Rediscovery and Inspiration along the Lewis and Clark Trail, March 31, 2011

Join us at the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Tuesday, March 31, for an entertaining, educational and enlightening evening as the author of 'Life on the Shoulder', Gordon Thomas Ward, discusses his inspiring journey along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Gordon details his 1800 mile expedition through photographs and personal anecdotes. Travel back through time and  revisit the places explored  by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark as recorded in their journals and the pages of history in their search for the Northwest Passage.

Crystal and Gemstone Healing Workshop, March 29

Join us at the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Tuesday, March 29, for a Crystal and Gemstone Healing Workshop, presented by Susan Martinez. Susan is the founder and director at Healing Lotus Yoga & Reiki Center and specializes in alternative healing, spiritual counseling and health and wellness. Learn a brief history of the application of crystal healing as well as different stones and their properties. Other topics include:

Have Fun With Chinese Characters, March 19, 2011

Have you ever wondered  about the meaning of Chinese characters .... and what  the pattern of all of those strokes represent? Chinese characters are the oldest continuously used writing system in the world.  Join us at the Hillsborough Public Library at 2pm on Saturday, March 19, for a workshop in which you will learn the concept and history of this ancient script. Jeanette Wu will explain how the characters are formed  and how the strokes are used. Try  your hand at writing the characters yourself… there will be time to practice your new writing skill!

Music In the West Wing, March 15, 2011

Join us in the West Wing of the Hillsborough Public Library at 7pm on Tuesday, March 15, for Celtic music with Seasons.

Seasons is a sibling harp and hammered dulcimer trio who will bring us to another place and time with their beautiful sounds. They each play piano and percussion and range in age from seventeen to twenty-two. Seasons has been playing professionally and as a ministry for about seven years. They will be performing many holiday classics and selections from their CD Which Way to Dublin Town.

Seasons has two CD’s and has opened for three-time Grammy Award winner Ashley Cleveland.

Walter Choroszewski will help you take the next steps in developing a Digital Work Flow and Management Plan Well-known NJ photographer Walter Choroszewski brings his expertise, humor and techie know-how for an informal and fun Digital Photo Class: II advising on the “Next Steps” required after you took the shot!

Walter will help you develop a DIGITALWorkflow and Photo Management plan. He will compare and demonstrate some popular Photo Editing Software with tips and tricks for e-mail and prints !
