Please join librarian Chris Murray for an intriguing discussion of this sensitive book, which chronicles the lives of two Chinese girls from childhood through maturity, as they attempt to weave their way through the turbulent culture clashes of nineteenth-century China. Over the years they send secret messages to each other by writing on a silk fan, recording important events in their lives. A misunderstanding causes the women to stop writing, but they reconcile as Snow Flower's death approaches.
